About this Recipe

Dairy-free, low fat, vegetarian. These little morsels are sweet and tasty and give you a healthy little energy boost just when you need it.


  • 1 cup walnut pieces, lightly toasted
  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1 cup dried figs
  • ½ cup pitted prunes
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp finely grated orange zest
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ⅔ cup sesame seeds, lightly toasted
The gems will keep unrefrigerated for up to a week, or refrigerated for up to 3 weeks.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Pulse all of the ingredients except for the sesame seeds in a food processor until evenly combined. Chill the mixture for 90 minutes.

Step 2

Use a small ice cream scoop to spoon tablespoonfuls of the mixture and shape each into a ball. Roll each gem into the sesame seeds to coat completely and then store in an airtight container.
