About this Recipe

Love baked apples?  These pears are an elegant variation that I like to serve warm, in the morning in place of oatmeal (though I do love my oatmeal!)

NOTES: Serve warm, drizzled with honey and with yogurt for breakfast, or with ice cream for dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (100 g) rolled oats
  • ⅓ cup (67 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup (26 g) sliced almonds
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup (60 g) unsalted butter, melted, plus extra for brushing
  • 3 Tbsp (26 g) raisins
  • 4 Bartlett or Bosc Pears, medium ripeness
  •  honey, for drizzling

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (150°C).

Step 2

Toss the oats, brown sugar, almonds and cinnamon to combine. Stir in the melted butter until roughly combined, then stir in the raisins.

Step 3

Cut the pears in half (do not peel) and scoop out the core. Lay pear halves in a baking dish and brush tops with melted butter. If they don’t sit flat in the baking dish, slice a flat spot on the underside of the pear.

Step 4

Press the oat filling onto each pear and bake uncovered for 25 minutes, until the pears are tender and oat filling is lightly browned.
